Suvendu to join KMC’s three-day cleanliness, fitness drive ahead of Yoga Day
The three-day initiative will see the participation of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari as part of the build-up to the main Yoga Day celebrations at Kolkata's Red Road.

Ahead of the International Yoga Day celebrations across the city on June 21, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari reached the Bagbazar Mayer Ghat on the Hooghly river in Kolkata on Wednesday.
Adhikari was seen armed with a broom cleaning up the steps leading down to the Hoogly river. He was seen along with state Minister of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Agnimitra Paul.

“The West Bengal government, the Kolkata Corporation, and all of us welcome the Prime Minister. Full preparations are underway for this,” Adhikari said speaking to reporters.

The event was part of the ‘Swachhata Se Swagat’ drive, a cleanliness campaign, being organised by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the city for the Yoga Day event, the first one to be held after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come to power in the state after the assembly elections.
The three-day campaign started off on Wednesday with a cleanliness drive at the historic ghat in Bagbazar. The Chief Minister visited the spot at 8 am to review the initiative and interacted with the officials involved.
On Thursday at 7:45 am, Adhikari is slated to take part in a sanitation and awareness programme at the Bhowanipore Health and Wellness Centre.
The final event of the series will be a special marathon on Friday morning at 6:30 am at the Kolkata Municipal Corporation headquarters. The run will conclude at the Writers’ Building. According to sources, the Chief Minister is expected to participate in the marathon.
